Shhh…don’t tell Tony, but he’s more of a Demiurge figure than a true creator.
Nathan Van Lare (that’s me!) has an MFA in Comics from the California College of the Arts. He got his BFA in Graphic Design from Santa Clara University.
About this project
When I started my graduate degree in comics, I was working on a very different project. It was a bleak coming-of-age story set in essentially an analogue for Hell, called the Soul Abyss.
I took a short-form comics class in my time at CCA, and developed Tony’s Toon-i-Verse. And I found I was having so much fun making it, while my long term Soul Abyss project required channeling a lot of angst.
So Soul Abyss was shelved, and I couldn’t be happier to be focusing on the ongoing Tony’s Toon-i-Verse series! It’s incredibly fun to make, and I hope you have as much fun reading it as I do making it!
